MEI SC Advance Note /Coin count

Post by Nathan »

I’m using an SC Advance with Paylink, and I only see 16 notes reported in the API.

I’m in Czech Republic with an MEI SCA unit and notes table which contain EUR+HUF+CZK currencies that I know defines more than 16 notes.

What can I do to get the other notes shown, Is there a way to make Paylink handle an acceptor accepts more than 16 notes and if not is there a way to choose which notes shall be accepted?

Hi nathan,

Within Paylink the number of notes is usually pre-set by the handler for the specific acceptor type.

The MEI SC Advance is a special case for two reasons:
1/ it can handle up to 100 different notes
2/ The note specification can be very detailed

The default used by the handler is 16 note types which is sufficient for most circumstances, but you can specify in the configuration file (Standard.cfg) how many it is to use, you just add
MAX <Count> NOTES
onto the Protocol EBDS line.

If Paylink can fit all the specifications for all the notes in the specified count, then it does so, otherwise it ignores the last 5 characters and treats all notes matching on the first 10 characters as the same. (This is generally how you want to see it!)

If you start with something like MAX 80 NOTES and then look at the Paylink log or at the notes that shown in the API, you can then tweak it to get a sensible value.

(Note you will need to re-plug the USB in the Paylink unit after the driver is running so as to catch the diagnostics which are output during initialisation.)
