Old Firmware/Update issue

I have a (gameswarehouse/fatspanner conversion) games machine running a paylink with firmware 4.1.10.6. This board sometimes goes faulty & throws up error codes. I have another paylink board on different firmware. This will not work with my games machine. I have tried updating to latest version, but still does not work. The old board will not work with latest version but will work with 4.1.10.42 (only). I cannot get the new board to load 4.1.10.42 - It crashes with microsoft error reporting.I cannot update the software as it is locked, so I need old firmware version 4.1.10.6 or a method of installing 4.1.10.42 that does not crash. Your help appreciated.
