AESWDriver Problem

Hi,

I'm using Paylink as an interface to a Guardian 6000 and a PC. The Guardian uses the MDB protocol and the paylink is conected via USB to the PC. The PC is running Windows XP Home and our software is written in VBasic.

Sometimes the AESWdriver loses comunication with paylink and I cant identify the problem. This causes my payment machine to go offline, and I have to power down the paylink before the AESWdriver can re-establish comunication with paylink.

I've tried using a different PS (currently i'm using a 4,2amp. power suply), I've tried different firmwares, ferrite chokes on USB cable, diferent paylink units, etc. Nothing seems to solve my problem.

Right now I'm using 4-1-10-06 version, which seems to be the one with less problems.

Do you have any idea what may be causing this? I appreciate any help you can give me, I've run out of ideas.

Hi,

Your problem is that noise in the system is crashing the lowest level of the PC USB drivers. They do not recover without a significant dis-connection re-connection cycle.

If you get this problem on every payout, then you need to look at power supplies and earths. If you get it occasionally, then the latest Driver program (http://www.aardvark.eu.com/downloads/so ... Driver.zip) and firmware (http://www.aardvark.eu.com/downloads/so ... -10-13.zip) have a number of recovery processes added, which often prove to be enough.

If you still find the problem recurring, then you probably have a Rev 3 Paylink and should switch to Rev 4, which can effectively remove the USB cable on its own. (You can tell a Rev 4 because it runs with *only* a USB cable plugged in.)
