Can't get NV7 note acceptor to work

Post by Colin »

I've got one of you Milan cards and connected it to an Innovative NV7 note acceptor.

According to the various diagnostics I've run, there are no Acceptors on the system, what should I try?

Colin, some basic questions:

Have you been able to get any other cctalk peripherals running?

Which version of the firmware are you using?

Have you downloaded and used our latest diagnostics?
http://www.aardvark.eu.com/products/mil ... #downloads This will enable you to see the firmware version and if it is reporting any errors - it also makes it easy to e-mail anything it reports.

I only have the one perp. At the moment the NV7 NoteReader plugged into the Milan Card.

The card resets ok Ver. 004.001.008.014 I am not sure which firmware version to use?
I ran AESDIAG to get the above info.

The wiring is as follows:-
Milan side:

Pin Function
2 +12V Out
1 ccTalk
3 Serial Select/0V

NV7 Side (ccTalk Key = 483204)
Pin Function
1 ccTalk plus crossover patch to pin 5
5 Crossover to pin 1
15 +12V
16 Serial Select /0V

Your lead sounds OK .

I assume the stacker mechanism cycles when you apply power.

The NV7 should have the comms select switches set to Special (assuming it's not called cctalk!)

If the acceptor key is not 123456 you have to tell the Milan card what it is. You can use the utility "....SDK\Examples\Lumina Serial No\Release\LuminaSerial.exe" to do this for testing purposes.

Firmware 4.1.8.14 is the latest - there are no known problems.

It cycles (makes noise) when I apply power.

It is labelled ccTalk and the dip switch settings are set to Special.

I ran LuminaSerial.exe and set the serial to 483204 and then ran aesdiag.exe but it still did not see the note acceptor?

So if it is wired correctly, dip switches are ok and the board has been told
the serial key of the device whats left?

If you've got a DA1 kit from Innovative you can run that to check the serial number.

Alternatively I've got an Innovative utility that will run with the DA1 kit and re-set the serail number.

Hey all don't have a DA1 Kit but I did try the LuminaSerial.exe prog which
apparently sets the key to whatever u wish? Though if the moneycontrols
board can't see the NV7 then it prob did nothing...

Will try and get another ccTalk Perpiheral.

The LuminaSerial.exe only sets the encryption key within the PCI card, it
does not change the key on the note validator.

Ok so I should set the serial back to 123456 then!

Have just plugged an SR3 into my MCL board and AESDIAG saw it once I did a
card reset?

Perhaps the wiring for the NV7 is incorrect?

Good News setting all the DIP switches to high powering the NV7 up and then setting 1 & 2 for Special worked and the board/AESDIAG saw it immediately!
