1.1.11.5 to 4.1.11.X - When ?

Post by el_es_cr »

Hello developers,
On thursday last week I got my hands on PayLink Lite (with Dev kit). My toolchain is Turbo Delphi 2006 Explorer. It all works good, I started implementing while working (on the bench) on Monday, and I got a 'half decent' implementation yesterday evening (half-decent because I cannot test the dispensing code - have no dispenser on hand - but that is off topic, sorry).
The other cause why it is 'half decent' is that it relies on the SR5i supplied to us to be in particular setup. That's no good, and I know it. The SR5i that we use, has dual coin set (GB coins 0-7, EU coins 8-15).
So far I am detecting the lack of a dispenser, and route the appropriate coin accordingly (by value) and if I wish to change the currency, I inhibit them by number.
I very much would like to do the latter by CoinName, but that is said to be supported in 1.11.X, which is currently in development (1.1.11.5).
Is there any particular issue with the 1.11.5 that it is discouraged to use in production yet ? If so, are you able to tell, when you're going to promote the current 1.1.11.X to be 'full' ? Are you planning to include more features in the final release ?

I know it is almost too many questions already :)
I look forward to your answer(s) :)

Hi,

There are no (known) problems with 1.11.5 - you should be able to use it without any trouble.

The idea is to include additional facilitities in 1.11.x to override the default configuration, but we have been distracted recently by other projects.

We will probably promote the current set of facilitites to a properly controlled "alpha" release in the near future - and then provide the extra facilities in an engineering trial.

Hello Dave,
thanks for your reply.

I could be 'adventurous' and put the 1.11.5 to production (but maybe not yet ;) )
What rather I meant, is, what kind of testing do you need to promote this to be officially 'full' version ? More tests by the likes of me ? (have PayLink Lite dev kit on the bench, currently using MCL SR5i and Innovative NV10 too. No dispenser(s) on hand tough.) What types of error cases are particularly worth submitting to you to help this process?

At present it's more a question of "internal" testing, rather than from others. if I could suggest tests, we'd just do them! It's nore a question of people trying things we hadn't thought of.

We've had quite lot of work on fixing the "final" set set of faults in the 1.10.x release (now complete, we hope) and haven't been able to devote many resources to 1.11.x.

We hope to re-visit the 1.11.x development over the next 2-3 months.
